Summer Sum-Up: the family version

So I recently finished the ministry version on our other blog, and figured I might come over here to blow some dust off and jot down a few notes. What for? I have no idea! Just because.

We had a really awesome summer. It was full of fun things like a friend's visit, VBS at church, a few day trips to the coast, some swimming, lots of popsicles, and lots of slow mornings with everyone in pajamas (one of my favorite things). I started my 3-month free gym membership and have dropped 12 pounds (wooot!) and still have goals to meet, but am getting there!

Today is my girls' last day of summer and honestly I'm not sure yet what to do with it. I brought them donuts (at least that's what I'm telling them-hahaha!) and was considering a day at a local outdoor pool and lake. We might not make it though, since it wouldn't really work with the toddler's nap and with the meet-the-teacher activity at school. We might just lay around snuggling and then go for a run through the sprinklers later.

Here is a pictorial summary of the summer, in case you didnt' catch it on Facebook:

Both girls learned how to ride their bikes. Unfortunately the 6-yr-old busted her chin open 3 days later and got her first stitches, forcing her to stay off the bike for a while.

A July visit to the zoo with a little buddy from church. That was a fun family day.

A visit from dear friends who received Christ and were baptized last year by Jose, but had to move far away. We went over to the falls for the day.

A special visit from the missionary couple that started the church where Jose interned and later pastored  for 10 years in Honduras.

August visit from my BFF and her kids from Houston. Fun-filled days and a 2-day trip to the coast.

Day trip to Cannon Beach with a friend of mine and her little munchkin...

Jose's birthday at our church's Family Camp...

A day trip to Cannon Beach with the 5 of us plus my dad...it was a cold and foggy day!

Another day trip to Cannon Beach by way of Astoria, with friends of ours and their family...

And that's all folks! Tomorrow starts a new school year (ACK!) with my eldest babydoll in THIRD grade and my next sweetie pie in SECOND grade (holy cow) with poor little 2 1/2 year old still at home. He's going to be SO lonely! This month my girls will have birthdays too. This Saturday is Rebekah's ninth birthday. Wow! I distinctly remember my ninth birthday. We had just come back from the Philippines and were on the road. Here's hoping it's a good day for her with happy memories too!
More later...maybe...you know how I am....

I like all of this, a lot. Sounds like a great summer in every respect--except, of course, for the part where I wasn't there with you.
