Sigh

I've left my title to be "I can't think of a title because it's too late at night..." and I think I'll stick with it. My mind draws a blank a lot more lately than it used to. I'm not sure why. And tonight I'm tempted to write "I can't think of what to say in my blog although I ought to update it but really I'm not sure what to write about because nothing of great note has happened in the last week or so although if I were a really great writer I would just make something up and it wouldn't matter because it would be amusing and entertaining but well I'm not that great of a writer so I suppose it would take me a while to think up something amusing and entertaining and well, it is night, although not that late, but still, an hour when I usually allow my brain to power down and so here I am in front of the computer, one of my daughters getting up again, with really not much on my mind to comment on." But if I wrote that, then I couldn't really count that as updating my blog. Rather it's just a rambling of nothing at all. My husband just called me from work (he has a night job) and asked me to do him the favor of typing up all the Spanish verbs (with English translations) that I can think of. Hm. He asks me this at 9:45 p.m., the night before, I assume, he plans to present this exhaustive (in every sense) list of Spanish verbs. What should I say? "Great, honey! Do you want that before or after I make up a Spanish-
English Thesaurus, and also, would you like it in alphabetical order, or by topic?" As on many other occassions, I do believe I can firmly conclude I've married a last-minute maniac.

So I'll change the subject. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get my children to sleep later in the morning? My 3 year old has always been an early riser and still insists on getting up at 6:50a.m. no matter her bedtime. I've tried all different strategies, but perhaps someone will suggest one I haven't thought of before.

Don't be fooled! This was last night at approximately 10pm. It doesn't last long!

And this was last night, enjoying a special moment with mommy and some hot chocolate while big sister was away at Awana....

let the internet do your work for you! There's bound to be be othere people who have already done this:)

I just did a google search for "spanish verbs list" this was the first site that came up:

100 most used verbs in Spanish:

~~

as for sleeping in...this is the most effective thing I've found (granted, my kid's still usually wake up around six --I just don't want them waking up at 5!)

I give them a digital clock and say, "do not get up until the clock says 6". (it's important that you explain that the *first* number has to says 6. not the last one). Then I set the clocks late, so that the clock doesn't say 6 until 6:30. And this usually works.

Granted, when we first started, the boys would come in at 5:45 and say, "mo-o-o-om, it's taking too long for my clock to say six!." And I would put the pillow over my head & say, "go get back in bed!" But I think this has generally been a success.

Also, if they're independent enough you could tell them to stay in their room, keep the door shut, & play quitetly until the clock says 7 (or whatever)... I'm usually able to stay in bed, sleeping lightly, until 7, when the world falls apart & everyone starts screaming... hope this helps.

PRECIOUS girls, by the way!

Thanks Kari! I did get on the internet and found practically a dictionary of verbs...thanks for more links! I just pasted into Word - I'm not sure if Jose realizes I did that or if he thinks I made it all up - ha!

Holy cow your kids get up earlier than mine! We all used to get up earlier in Honduras when the whole world got up earlier, but here we do try to sleep a bit later. Good idea on the digital clock...I think I'll do that! :) God bless, sweet friend...

LOL, that was a fun blog to read, probably because we all know exactly how you feel. I did the same thing Kari did to get my kids to sleep later, only, it never occurred to me to set the clocks later.....

Hope it works for you, and, I agree, you should make him think you came up with all the verbs ;)

yes... forgot to mention that it was glenna who gave me the clock idea in the first place.
