In just a couple days we will be gloriously blessed by a visit from beloved friends - my college roommate (all of one semester...but our friendship has lasted much longer!) and her three girls! We will be mightily squished into our teensy little 4x4 home, but I'm sure we won't mind a bit. We'll go to the coast for one night and while in town run around having fun like all mommies and little girls should.
After that our church is having VBS - this year Rebekah can actually go as a real and official participant! That's crazy! It will melt my heart to see her wear the t-shirt and do all the VBS things that big kids do.
After that week then we will joyfully host dear friends - missionaries from Mexico. Actually they stood in as Jose's parents in our wedding over eight years ago. And they are the ones who set me up to go to Honduras in the very first place over ten years ago! So you see they are super duper special people. And I hope they don't mind squishing in a 4x4 apartment.
After that Jose leaves for a month in Honduras and the girls and I leave for Houston and then Virginia! Halelujah! A good time will be had by all. I can hardly stand it. Meanwhile I'm in a bit of a panic...we come back on a Thursday and Rebekah starts her first year in real school - kindergarten - the following Tuesday! Yikes! I hadn't even thought of getting together her school supplies and having myself all organized and ready! This is crazy! Thank God, truly, for my wonderful mother, who has generously offered to get the school supplies while I'm gone. Phew! One thing off the list!
And today I lost my head and watched 4 kids in addition to my two...although I only had two of those four for just a short time, and actually all extra four kids did splendidly well and I was even able to do laundry, dishes, make lunch, and write and send out a newsletter! However at the moment I am feeling quite exhausted. Hm.
We had homemade pizza for dinner. I called mine a "red" pizza. I had turkey pepperoni (less fat), red peppers, and tomatoes on it. I would've put much more on it but I didnt have anything else. Although I recalled this morning's (or was it yesterday's?) Sesame Street episode where they said that pickles on a pizza would be gross. "P" was the letter of the day.
I've been taking the girls swimming once a week. I aimed for twice, but once is acceptable. Both are doing great and learning to swim a little bit at a time. Rebekah can dog paddle for a good distance. Isabella can shout "now it's my turn to swim!" and let go of the edge to immediately submerge under the water. Well, at least fear isn't a factor.
I am addicted to Design Star and Next Food Network Star. That keeps me up on Sunday nights.
The weekends until we leave will also be filled with birthdays, a baby shower, and church activities. Jose and I will take one weekend of the children's church for their Around the World kind of summer program thingie and will take them to Honduras. I still need to work on putting together what we're going to do. But hey, the birthday and shower gifts are wrapped and ready! That was easier to do.
And now that I have rambled and my eyes are blurry, that's it for this post!
