And just as God delights us with small stuff that could easily go unnoticed, I believe that God reveals Himself in the small stuff of our days as well. The small stuff that aint so purty. Like the husband's towel on the floor, or the children covering the floors with the clean blankets for the umpteenth time, or whatever other small stuff might upset the happy flow of a sunshiney day. I was taught a while back that our real spiritual battles happen in the daily stuff...and b
oy have I found that to be true! The temptation to fume about that towel, for example. In one split second I become guilty of a myriad of sins - anger, selfishness - all sweatin' the small stuff instead of seeing God in them. And where is God in a wet towel, I might wonder? In stooping down, graciously picking it up, and hanging it where it belongs, and doing that with love and a servant's heart. "'Pert near impossible!" I shout to myself. Yeah, it's tough. Maybe when I go outside and see the bright yellow daffodil, thinking of all the labor (on God's part, not mine!) it took to bring that flower to bloom...maybe then I will take a deep breath, and realize just how easy it is to pick up that towel or those blankets - and to do it with joy, seeing God in the small stuff.
