So I need help deciding how to decorate our bedroom....mainly, the wall. :) The color in the room is a dark navy - curtains are dark navy and so is the bedding. I have a couple of ideas, varying in degree of difficulty and expense. One idea is to put up a large mirror over the bed, and matching black iron sconces on either side, above the dressers. Another is three paintings, one large in the middle, and 2 small on either side of it, all 3 centered over the bed. A friend of mine suggested an upholstered headboard for the bed, and a painting on the wall. What do you think?

not that i am one to talk b/c the space above our bed has been a blank wall for 4 1/2 years. i think once we get an actual bed frame w/ mattress off of the floor, i will be more motivated to change that. :)
anyways, i like the idea of the three pictures. do you have ideas for what kind of art you want to hang? you could even get some cute pics of your family and have them enlarged and go that route...maybe that's not a bedroom-y kind of thing, though. anyway, there's my two cents.
An upholstered headboard is always elegant. Something about a headboard makes a room feel more solid, more permanent, less Freecycle or Craig's List... And now that you've mastered gluing a fringe to your lamps, I bet you could make that headboard itself a work of art!
Yeah, I was thinking of doing the photo enlarging thing for my living room walls (also bare). I'll have them printed in b&w at Costco, and then put them on shelves above the entertainment center and floor lamp. I have NO IDEA what to look for as far as paintings are concerned! Although, I've been talking with my sister about getting back into painting and drawing myself...so who knows...maybe I'll do it myself, once I acquire the supplies again. :)
OH, and yeah, I'll still do the headboard. It's not as scary now b/c I looked at some ideas on HGTV and also have the fabric for it already (from the curtains) so that takes off most of the pressure b/c I have no idea what to look for in fabric...!
like the headboard idea, although i'm w/heather & in the 10 years that i've been married have never gotten around to putting anything over my bed. I acutally *bought* something a couple months ago, from Linens & Things (for $25) that says, "always kiss me goodnight" very fun. ....but i still haven't hung it.

if you paint the wall, try a sandy beige. then paint the dressers white.
Too bad so sad for me I cant paint any walls. :( Now I'm thinking of doing a swag above the bed instead of a headboard...an idea I saw on HGTV...you use hold backs for curtains and maybe a tassel...should be quick and easy
yah... that sounds fun.
