A recent blog post of a friend of mine had me singing and thinking this Larnelle Harris song all day. This song has so often come to mind through the years. Even when we have devotions, some times it's as if it were an impersonal time just reading wonderful words finished by a quick "have-to" prayer, and we wonder why the rest of the day we still feel so tired and empty. Time with Jesus, especially before the day begins, is one of those life-lines, those sustainers that carry us through a long day of house stuff, kid stuff, church stuff. And when we don't get that amazingly personal connection with our Christ, it really does hurt....maybe manifested in grouchiness, fatigue, loneliness (I'm speaking from experience, sadly).
Hey, and have you ever thought about how our Father feels about missed time with you? I hope these lyrics touch and trigger your heart to long for daily time with Him, as He must long for us...
i miss my time with you
those moments together
i need to be with you each day
and it hurts me when you say
you're too busy
busy trying to serve me
but how can you serve me
when your spirit's empty
there's a longing in my heart
wanting more than just a part of you
it's true
i miss my time with you...
