Car

I think I'll start praying for God to provide a second car. Jose and I have talked about it, here and there, and we don't really conclude anything. Just "yeah, it would be nice, but it would mean more monthly expenses, etc.". I don't think gas would be that much more, because I don't see how I would go out at night very much. This week a friend is out of town, and she has graciously allowed me to borrow her mini-van to take Rebekah to Awana tonight. It was so fun to drive it back from the airport today! I was thinking to myself, ahhh, wouldn't a mini-van be nice? It will be such a joy to take my own daughter to Awana tonight, instead of again being the humble recipient of a friend's grace and generosity (a friend usually takes her for me). Mind you, it is also a joy to be a humble recipient of good things...in the sense that it constantly keeps me in tune with how awful' nice God is to us undeserving schmucks.

I laugh when I think of those years in Honduras (about 3) when we didn't have a car...I would take the yellow-chicken-buses down to the nearest grocery store, load up, and then just like some sit-com, squish back on to another yellow-chicken-bus with a 12-pack of TP on my shoulder, about seven full plastic grocery sacks distributed amongst my fingers, and usually a 5-pound frozen chicken, bonking gawking natives in the heads as I weasled my way to find a somewhat stable spot to stand and not go flying through the cracked window. I must've been such a hilarious sight! Not to mention very white, very blonde, and very tall, comparatively speaking. I suppose God figured enough was enough and He would amuse the natives somehow else, so He provided us a great car in an amazing way. And boy was I thankful!

God tells us He gives us good things and also things that we need, so I'm wondering if perhaps He will some day see fit to throw in a second car along with the daily bread.

Thanks! :) Meanwhile I'm reminded to be thankful for what He has already given us (which is A LOT!)!
