Update
So the shepherd's pie was good. I didn't follow the recipe exactly (I never do!), and I might have otherwise but I didnt' have all the ingredients. I should've tasted the mashed potatoes first, though, because they needed more salt. I also added those instant cheddar and garlic biscuits to go along with it.
